John Clements is Co-Principal of Nipmuc Regional High School. A graduate of Boston University, he began his career at Nipmuc 23 years ago as an English teacher. He spent seven years as an assistant principal and is currently in his 11th year as principal and his 4th sharing that role with Mrs. Moran. Mr. Clements is passionate about evolving education to meet the needs of the modern world. He leads a talented team of educators that is focused on continuous improvement, including embedding opportunities to support student agency, deep inquiry, and real work that has relevance beyond the classroom. Mr. Clements is the recipient of the 2017 Massachusetts Principal of the Year Award.
Mr. Clements is a proponent of the accreditation process as a way promote a culture of continuous improvement in our schools. He has worked closely with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) including recently serving as the chairperson of NEASC’s committee to revise the standards for accreditation, leading the work to write the 2020 Standards for Accreditation for NEASC's 600+ member schools. He spent 6 years as a Commissioner for the NEASC, serving as one of 25 educators across New England who establish standards and processes for school accreditation while guiding schools through the accreditation cycle. For the past 18 years he has chaired accreditation visiting teams, leading groups of educators in supporting other schools’ improvement efforts. He is the recipient of NEASC’s 2020 Jacob Ludes III Leadership Award .
He has shared his professional work and the achievements of Nipmuc Regional in a variety of venues. Mr. Clements and Mrs. Moran traveled to the U.S. Department of Education as representatives of one of six schools across the nation to share strategies for reimagining the school day. They returned to Washington, D.C. in June to co-author whitepapers about the reimagining of American education. Additional presentations include the EduCon Conference in Philadelphia, the National Science Teachers’ Association conference, the 2016 Leading Future Learning Conference, the Learn Launch conference, the Massachusetts STEM Summits, the NEASC Showcase of Model Schools, NEASC’s Annual Meeting, Plymouth State University's January Jamboree 2.0, WPI’s STEM Education Center, WPI’s AweSTEM event, the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) conference, a variety school districts across Massachusetts, and more than 10 presentations to Massachusetts administrators at the MSAA Summer Institute.
Mr. Clements recently completed a two-year term as President of the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports innovative educational programming to assist students’ development of 21st century skills by connecting classrooms with industry. He continues to serve on the board of the BVEF in the role of a past president. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud parents of Ben and James, their 15 and 13 year-old boys.

Mary Anne Moran is Co-Principal of Nipmuc Regional High School. Mrs. Moran is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Framingham State University with degrees in elementary education, Spanish, and Curriculum and Instructional Technology. Mrs. Moran began her work in education as a fifth grade teacher in an elementary school. After several years of teaching elementary and middle school, she pursued her passion for mathematics and earned her certification in middle and high school mathematics, beginning her work in the Mendon-Upton Regional School district. After spending a total of 11 years in the classroom, Mrs. Moran joined the administrative team at Nipmuc Regional High School in the role of Associate Principal. In 2016, Mrs. Moran was recognized by her peers as the Massachusetts Assistant Principal of the Year. In 2018, Mrs. Moran was named Co-Principal of Nipmuc Regional High School.
Mrs. Moran has made countless contributions to the school and district. She has played an integral role in leading Nipmuc’s 1:1 learning program in which all students and teachers use iPads and MacBooks to support teaching and learning. In addition, she led the school’s efforts to design and implement an advisory program in which all students work with a faculty advisor in small groups in order to deliver a curriculum focused on future planning, wellness, and life skills. Mrs. Moran has shared in the development and leadership of the Nipmuc’s STEM and Humanities Scholars Program as well as Nipmuc’s Inspired Learning Days, providing students with opportunities to make meaningful connections between their work in the classroom and future careers, develop skills and interests beyond the scope of a traditional high school curriculum, as well as engage in hands-on learning experiences with professionals and community members.
She is passionate about reimagining education to ensure that learning within our schools is closely aligned to our district’s vision and beliefs about learning. Over the course of the past year, Mrs. Moran has helped to develop innovative programming to give students voice in the process of reimagining school. From Food for Thought lunches to Lead Learner workshops, students have the opportunity to share their thoughts and reflections to help shape the future of Nipmuc Regional. Her hope is that every student will get excited about learning, develop their passions, and be prepared for an ever-changing future.
